The Grand Opera House
In the fall of 2009 I was part of a group of seven students in the University’s Research in Strategic Communications class who conducted research for The Grand Opera House in Oshkosh, WI. The research done for this class was in preparation for a strategic advertising campaign for The Grand. For this research, I moderated an eight member focus group studying trends and opinions of The Grand Opera House and helped to administer a survey completed by 890 individuals.
This spring I continued my work with The Grand by helping produce an advertising campaign in the University’s Strategic Campaigns in Advertising class. As a team leader for the 15 student class, I had the role of one of the graphic designers for our campaign’s plans book. The goal of our class was to re-position The Grand and create a campaign that attracted a college aged demographic. Below is a pdf of our campaign plans book.

Simply Simon
Simply Simon is a small online business that sells handmade items, such as journals and jewelry. The company, ran by Desiree Thompson, sells its goods on Etsy.com. Etsy is an online market where consumers can buy and sell handmade items. The client wanted media specific pieces that related to and promoted their business.
For the design of the pieces I incorporated inspiration from the pop art movement, mainly from the artist Andy Warhol. I integrated bright colors along with the repetition of shapes and images.
